“The mounting pressure for vessels to decarbonise in response to climate change targets requires rapid development of practical and scalable solutions. This is key to our strategy at Genevos. In 2021, our product range was the first in the world to receive AiP certification as a fully integrated marine solution.

“Innovation plays a crucial role in our daily business, keeping simplicity and safety as key design elements for the efficient deployment of clean hydrogen power solutions. By designing a modular and fully-integrated drop-in power pack, our technology enables practical installation aboard any vessel, simplifying the energy transition for integrators and OEMs.

Genevos is a cleantech spin-off from ‘OceansLab – Cleantech Accelerator‘, a unique ocean racing campaign that innovates and showcases critical renewable energy technologies for a clean maritime industry today. Uniquely powered by a Genevos HPM-15, the OceansLab IMOCA60 will compete in the world’s most extreme oceanic environments showcasing globally the practical application of Hydrogen Power Modules offshore.

Uniquely powered by a Genevos HPM-15, the OceansLab IMOCA60 will compete in the world’s most extreme oceanic environments showcasing globally the practical application of Hydrogen Power Modules offshore.

2024

  • Genevos signs Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ACUA Ocean, a specialist manufacturer of hydrogen powered Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs), for a commercial collaboration to develop next-generation hydrogen powered USVs (H-USV). Read more here.

2023

  • Genevos completes €2.5m seed fund-raise to accelerate commercial roll-out. The raise included funding from Impact Ocean Capital, a fund managed by GO Capital, and non-dilutive financing. Read more here;
  • In collaboration with ‘OceansLab – Cleantech Accelerator’, Breteche, and Terega Solutions, Genevos achieves one of the world’s first green hydrogen refuellings on a boat – a foiling IMOCA, skippered by Co-Founder Mr Philip Sharp. Read more here;
  • Approval in Principle (AiP) awarded to Genevos for the complete hydrogen energy system installation on board the IMOCA. The approval was provided by Lloyds Register (“LR”), a leading provider of classification and global services in marine engineering and technology. Read more here;
  • Preliminary studies commence on a high power fuel cell power system.

2022

  • Genevos wins Monaco Prize for Innovation in Renewable Hydrogen and Transportation. Read more here;

  • Genevos secures additional Region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ‘Start-up Innovation’ grant to accelerate R&D of 80 kW marine fuel cell.

2021

  • Genevos achieves first world-wide AiP (Approval in Principle) for their product range of fully-integrated marine fuel cells (15 kW – 40 kW). Read more here;
  • Genevos wins UK Government funded project to supply a 15kW marine fuel cell to EMEC (European Marine Energy Centre). Read more here;
  • The Communauté d’Agglomération de La Rochelle welcomes Genevos in a low-carbon centre at Atlantech, Lagord, the first European carbon cooperative, which produces green hydrogen and is part of the ‘La Rochelle, zero carbon territory’ initiative.

2020

  • Genevos secures Region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ‘Start-up Innovation’ grant to accelerate R&D of marine fuel cell prototype;
  • Hydrogen Power Module prototype accredited with the ‘Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label’, officially recognising the product as a clean and profitable solution with a positive impact on environment and quality of life. Read more here.

2018

  • Exploratory and preliminary studies were made on an integrated hydrogen energy system, designed for the maritime sector;
  • Genevos was incorporated in the city of La Rochelle, department of Charente-Maritime of the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The company was founded by Mrs Rebecca Sharp and Mr Philip Sharp, born and raised in the Channel Island of Jersey.
